Top 30 Anime Series of All Time

Yep, I’ve finally put together a top shows list. As I hopefully made clear in part one and part two of my critical biases post, this is obviously my list – it represents the things I think are most valuable in stories in the way I think they’ve best been articulated. It’s also just a list of shows I enjoy – there’s no hard criteria here, so I wouldn’t stress the numbers too much. Also, it’s a bit front-loaded – I only started watching anime seasonally about two years ago, so the last couple years are disproportionately represented. Incidentally, I’m not including movies here either – I think direct comparisons between shows and films are a bit of a stretch, but if they were included, this list would certainly be somewhat different. And finally, I’m absolutely (and thankfully) certain this list will change over time – there are still piles of widely beloved shows I’ve never seen, so I’m sure the current rankings will be filled out in the years to come. So with that all said, let’s get to the list – Bobduh’s Top 30 Anime of All Time.

-edit- I have now created a Top Shows Addendum for shows that have either fallen off or just barely missed this list. Please enjoy these additional almost-top shows!

30. Flip Flappers

Flip Flappers marries the blossoming artistic vision of many of anime’s most talented young animators to a story teeming with the rich psychological inquiry that anime does so well. Centered on a girl on the verge of young adulthood who feels too paralyzed by consequences to decide who she wants to be, Flip Flappers takes her on a wild adventure through a series of evocative alternate realities, all of which ultimately reflect back on the human interiority of her own world. Flip Flappers appreciates the inherent beauty of our distinct internal worlds, and pairs a wild tour through the human experience with a core character arc that reflects thoughtfully on the complexity of love, identity, and growing up. Slotting somewhere thematically between FLCL and Evangelion, it is a can’t-miss addition to anime’s coming-of-age pantheon.

Here’s my review of Flip Flappers.

Flip Flappers is available streaming on Crunchyroll.

29. Gatchaman Crowds

Gatchaman Crowds Best Anime List

Gatchaman’s a goddamn busy show – in the course of a 12-episode run, it covers everything from internet culture to crowdsourcing to the necessity of leadership to social responsibility to human nature to… well, you get the idea. And it explores all these ideas while also staying remarkably light and breezy – you could enjoy the show purely as a fun, visually interesting, musically brilliant adventure without even thinking about how identity is constructed in the digital age, or whatnot. And when you combine these two strengths, you get a show that proves you don’t have to be dry to be smart – you can make awesome points about how the internet will change the world without ever giving up a sense of fun and moment-to-moment excitement. Brain food and comfort food at the same time.

Here’s my review of Gatchaman Crowds.

Gatchaman Crowds is available at Amazon and streams on Crunchyroll.

28. Giant Robo

Giant Robo Best Anime List

Giant Robo is Bombast Incarnate. Featuring an epic clash between the Experts of Justice and Big Fire, there’s no room for subtlety in this production – it’s all massive robots and deadly superspies and fights for the fate of the world. It’s also a beautiful thing – a series of seven OVAs released over most of a decade, the show is a gorgeous ode to classic super robot storytelling, brought to life with strong animation and rich colors and epic orchestral scores. And yet for all its larger-than-life size, the show also tells a gripping story, full of fully-articulated characters and reflections on family and human ambition. Giant Robo essentially feels like the final act of the Greatest Robot Story Ever Told – it has absolute confidence, and earns the viewer’s trust through constant dramatic hooks and total polish in execution. Even if you generally like smaller stories, I’d give Giant Robo a chance.

Here’s my essay on Giant Robo.

Giant Robo is vaguely available on Amazon.

27. Bokurano

Bokurano manages the difficult feat of staying tonally downcast and even desolate at all times while simultaneously conveying an unflinching message of optimism, and belief in humanity as a species. Its premise is terribly arbitrary and cruel, and very few members of its young cast survive, but the stories they tell in their leaving reflect the kaleidoscopic spectrum of the human experience. Its compelling scifi narrative ultimately becomes little more than a stage for its young stars to shine, as they each take up an impossible mantel and fight on behalf of their species, their cruel guide mocking them all the while. But Bokurano does not believe in its guide’s cynicism; though the world it posits is harsh, its young heroes shine all the brighter for it.

Here’s my review of Bokurano.

Bokurano is available streaming on Crunchyroll.

26. Sound! Euphonium

Sound! Euphonium Best Anime List

Kyoto Animation excel at making quietly excellent little dramas, and Sound! Euphonium counts as one more feather in their distressingly pincushioned cap. The show is as gorgeous as you’d expect, the drama is understated but well-articulated, and the episodes are full of those alternately funny or poignant little moments that KyoAni’s mastery of animated storytelling always provokes. And Kumiko is one of the most fun people you could possibly follow around a story like this, with her snark and clumsy bluntness making her a refreshing and relatable protagonist. You can enjoy this show for its close viewing of the classic band experience, for its funny mess of jokes and characters, or for its well-articulated personal drama and reflections on goals and identity. It succeeds on all levels, making it one of the most impressive and fully realized high school dramas around.

Sound! Euphonium is available streaming on Crunchyroll.

25. Hunter x Hunter 2011

Hunter x Hunter 2011 Best Anime List

As the only long-running shounen on my list, HxH’s a bit of an outlier. But HxH is not your typical shounen – directed by Madhouse (likely my pick for the best studio of all time) and adapted from a source by the writer of Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter is basically a master class in what makes adventure entertaining. Though it starts off “only” demonstrating it knows how to make challenge-based television entertaining (in lieu of actual fights, it generally sets up compelling puzzles of all shapes and sizes for its heroes), it ends up jumping from genre to genre, dabbling in crime thriller, tournament shounen, and even war drama. And through it all, the show’s fantastic aesthetics elevate it above almost everything out there – in direction, in sound design, in pacing, in animation, in basically every relevant aesthetic metric, Hunter x Hunter triumphs. That it’s been maintaining this level of quality for well over a hundred episodes is nothing short of astonishing – in fact, I’d say Hunter x Hunter has only gotten better over time.

Here’s a critical breakdown of HxH episode 116, and here’s an essay on the recently concluded (and breathtaking) Chimera Ant arc.

Hunter x Hunter 2011 is available streaming on Crunchyroll.

24. Mushishi

Mushishi Best Anime List

Mushishi is one of those strange, special shows that seem to just emerge confident and fully constructed, exude excellence for all of their running time, and then go quietly on their way. Its vignettes are dreamy and ambiguous, full of resonance and compelling ideas but never didactic. Its world is mysterious and enchanting, evoking both a more resigned and possibly more dangerous version of Miyazaki’s mystical forests. Its production is fantastic, with beautiful backgrounds matching a wonderfully understated musical score and a great sense of pacing to conjure its powerful, singular atmosphere. And all this works in service of a show that’s fundamentally just incredibly calming and sedate – a series of long, lazy afternoons spent enjoying the company of a master storyteller.

Here’s my essay on Mushishi.

Mushishi is available at Amazon and its sequel streams on Crunchyroll.

23. Gunbuster! + Diebuster!

Gunbuster vs Diebuster Best Anime List

Grouped together because they really do feel like two sides of the same coin, both of Gainax’s Buster shows would also make this list independently. Flippant and heartbreaking, cynical and triumphant, personal and universal, each of these OVAs tells a story of humanity’s struggle against all the forces of the universe with style and heart. And each can stand alone, as well – Gunbuster is helmed by a pre-Eva Anno already exhibiting his unnerving style of direction, and Diebuster offers a very appropriate conclusion to the FLCL era of Gainax production. Only six episodes each, too – it’s pretty remarkable how much story each of these manage to tell.

Here are my essays on Gunbuster and Diebuster.

Both Gunbuster and Diebuster are available at Amazon.

22. Shinsekai Yori

Shinsekai Yori Best Anime List

Shinsekai Yori is basically tailor-made for fans of fantasy and scifi novels. Heavy on worldbuilding and questions of human nature, its story unfolds on a scale far greater than most anime, exploring a compelling dystopian society by following one generation from childhood through adolescence and well into adulthood. Though I often feel its characters fade into the background of its storytelling pretensions, it all works in service of an incredibly compelling central narrative, and its devastating conclusion justifies everything that came before. It’s a rare and valuable thing – few shows work on the scale of Shinsekai Yori.

Here’s my review of Shinsekai Yori.

Shinsekai Yori is available at Amazon and streams on Crunchyroll.

21. The Idolm@ster

The Idolmaster Best Anime List

An idol show?!? I could actually go on for a while about what makes various idol shows great (and I have), but as far as Idolm@ster specifically goes, this show is just a solid episodic drama that succeeds in almost everything it attempts. It’s got a rich and well-developed cast of characters, lots of great little character stories, and a bunch of fun adventures like “the team runs a Sunday game show” or “one idol ends up as a runaway bride while another fights yakuza goons.” On top of that, Idolm@ster features one of the best creative teams in recent memory – a bunch of former Gainax staff and other great creators combine to make this one of the most beautifully directed and animated shows I’ve seen. Even if you don’t have any interest in idols, Idolm@ster’s combination of fun stories and gorgeous execution makes it a rare and impressive show.

Here’s my review of The Idolm@ster.

The Idolm@ster is available streaming on Crunchyroll.

2,750 thoughts on “Top 30 Anime Series of All Time

  1. I really like your list. But I think steins;gate could have deserved a higher rank. But still what I really like about this list is the fact that it doesn’t contain any overrated anime.

  2. Where Baccano! at. I really think it deserves a place on this list. If you haven’t seen it yet I’ll recommend it.
It’s kind of like the Pulp Fiction of anime only with the addition of Alchemy

        • Dragon ball z is the shit its the best anime the hits the power the fushion the super saiyens power changes and the blood is so real it comes from the powerful hits. So the powerful hits causes the blood, like the kioken the puches from that hurt i bet goku did it to vegeta, freiza and other powerful enemies so its the best anime from 1989 to 2015 u cant denie its the best u know it.

          • pshhh if u talkin about it has the best blood lol high school of the dead has tat beat then. lol i can go on and on with animes that can beat it in areas that dbz has. just tell me and i can recall a anime that will beat it

  3. My top ten favourite anime and you should watch this :
    1. Shingeki no Kyojin (2013)
    2. Death Note (2007)
    3. Fullmetal Alchemist : Brotherhood (2009)
    4. Hunter x Hunter (2011)
    5. Code Geass : Hangyaku no Lelouch (2006)
    6. Monster (2004)
    7. Steins;Gate (2011)
    8. Kuroko no Basuke (2011)
    9. Tokyo Ghoul (2014)
    10. Kiseijuu : Sei no Kakuritsu (2014)

    • Seriously? All you watch is overrated anime. All of your top 3 are definitely the most overrated of all, they’re pretty much shit. Especially number 1. Just means you didn’t see enough anime, it has nothing to do with taste.

      • It’s people who rate anime to be great, good or bad. How can one person call it “over-rated”? phew, I never understand this. Just because some/few thinks it shouldn’t be atop doesn’t mean it should be overrated. Just take a look at IMDB Top 250 and match it with Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic ratings for both critic and user reviews. You can’t deny that they are all good movies. The perception of good and great differs among each person, and if majority thinks it’s great, it’s simply not your taste.

  4. The only thing I contest is that Here and There, Now and Then should most definitely be on this list, along with FMA: Brotherhood, both of which are thematically deep, racially diverse, deal with the realities of heavy ideas like war, genocide, child soldiers, and institutionalized racism. They were both incredible experiences, though Brotherhood is significantly longer than the other which stops at a single short season.

  5. This list is the perfect mix for me. I have watched about half these shows (so I can trust your taste) and half I haven’t (more shows to watch!).

That said, there are a few shows I’d love to know if you’ve seen/thought about them.

Paranoia Agent: Now that you’ve finished this show do you think it’ll be added at all? From what I’ve read I’d guess it’d make it, but in the bottom half.

Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso: You put this on your favorite anime of 2014 list. Any chance of making it? I’d guess not, because Baccano got knocked off and Shigatsu isn’t THAT good.

I also would like to know your thoughts on Glass Mask (2005), you didn’t rate it on MAL, and it’s my favorite anime of all time (odd choice, I know). What are your thoughts and opinions on this?

    • As my name can tell you, here’s my info:

Paranoia Agent: He has confirmed it will make it to one of the lists.

Shigatsu: Probably not gonna be the first show to get a lower score than Flamenco but still be ranked ahead of it. It can happen, since scores are totally subjective and different from rankings, but it doesn’t look like he liked it as much as the addendum material, much less Psycho Pass.

Glass Mask: It’s plan-to-watch, not completed.

  6. I like how you got a good amount of each genre in here. I’m mostly a fan of horror and crime anime so two of my favorites that I would try to add to this list are Mononoke (2007) and Death Note (2007)

  7. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on Gundam Seed. I recently re-watched the series and was really blown away by the depth and complexity of the characters, their progression throughout, and the way the show pulls on the watcher’s heartstrings. Since you rated Neon Genesis + End of Evangelion so highly, I think we may have fairly similar opinions. 🙂

  8. If you haven’t seen this series yet, I would recommend Kara no Kyoukai to add to the list. If nothing else, it’s aesthetically stunning, thrilling, and contains a fantastic soundtrack.

  9. naruto and dragon bôru are very popular but Shingeki no Kyojin or Steins gate and code geas have better story than naruto and db

    • Shingeki no kyojin is so overrated. I’ve enjoyed the show and it’s characters, ((SASHA!!!!)) but there are so many better anime out there that don’t get nearly as much attention

  10. You haven’t watched Ghost in the Shell ? Its two series The laughing man and Individual Eleven are the best.

    • He loves the manga. Has not gotten around to the anime, as it’s mostly the same and very long.

  11. aye bruh you gotta watch GTO, Toriko and, Arslan Senki i think thats it name but oh and Guin Saga is pretty god but the olitics while wellmade arent my style personally and uhhh ushio and tora is pretty cool aight thats all imma say

  12. Thank you very much for this great list, it helped me immensely to get into the anime (huge) world.

That being said I can’t help but regret the absence of Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou, as it is a true visual storytelling masterwork – despite its flaws. Directed by Ideaki Anno I found it as mindblowingly brillant as Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Usagi Drop (aka Bunny Drop) could have been mentioned too, as it paints young adulthood and parenting in a very sensitive and delicate maner. And Rin is surely one of the most adorable kids of the anime universe.

    • Death Note: 7/10 manga to him. He didn’t like Attack on Titan or Guilty Crown, so he’s not interested in the anime adaptation (same director).

Code Geass: It’s currently his #33 show. Might move down as far as 37 sometime soon though.

  13. It is an interesting list though I am disappointed it did not include anime like:
    1)Attack on Titans
    2)Sword Art Online
    3)Free!
Hope you can include them! (Did u even watched them? They r really popular by the way.)

    • He’s seen all three actually.

      1) Attack on Titan got a whole review. Ultimately, it’s not the kind of show for him.

      2) He has written extensively about SAO on this site. Go to the search bar and check it out some time.

      3) He liked Free more than SAO but less than Attack on Titan. Let’s leave it at that.

    • yep, it’s disappointing that he didn’t mention some titles espicially attack on titan, SAO, and also Nanatsu no taizai and kiseijuu

  14. Has anyone seen Gungrave? I’ve checked out a couple anime lists and haven’t seen it on them, I would definitely check it out it has a good story, good action, and the opening theme always makes me laugh! xD

  15. this list is good but naruto, dbz aot, one punch and one piece should definitely be on here. i know that these anime are considered mainstream but are extremely interesting and emotion packed. btw konjiki no gash bell is a really interesting anime and reading the manga is recommended.

  16. Have you seen or reviewed “Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad” ??? It is one of my favorites of all time and I think it suits your style.

  17. Thank you so much for making such a great list! I do love popular series like Naruto, and FMA is my all time favorite, but I do find it difficult to discover unrated and thoughtful, interesting anime. Thanks so much! Please continue to make more lists!

  18. its a very good list 🙂 and happy to see shiki, guren lagann and toradora up there 🙂
my suggestions are these (not in particular order):
    1. Clannad (Though i prefer Tomoyo After 🙂 )
    2. Umineko no Naku Koro ni
    3. </3 Guilty Crown </3
    4. Hellsing
    5. Kyoukai Kanata
    6. Mirai Nikki

    Old Anime
    1.Gatekeepers
    2. Noein
    3. Now and Then, Here and There
    4. CRAYON SHIN CHAN <<<<< @_@ i dunno why i love this

  19. Try School Rumble, its a great anime that has great characters and great character voices that matches their personalities perfectly. It has little to no plot but that’s what makes it good. It’s very random, throws a lot of parodies at you and every character is lovable and relatable. You’ll really get a feel for every character’s beliefs and why they do what they do. It’s damn funny too.

    P.S. Love this list 🙂

  20. There’s a particular Shoujo anime which is often overlooked which in my opinion is the best Shoujou anime/manga ever written, Kare Kano. It’s low budget gave it a rough looking style and parts which resemble the tarnish of Evangelion, i.e. the long freeze frames, or even panels from the manga which were utilized in the finished anime, however it’s story is beautiful, the characters, their motives, drives, quirks, and inner strife is exceptional, the level of pure introspective dialogue makes you feel, in some aspects, as if you’re watching a drama of yourself. It’s a phenomenal show I’d suggest you check it out.

  21. I just got to say, this list is terrifyingly accurate given my tastes which tends towards contemplative and depressing. Not saying everyone would enjoy the ones listed here but they’re the kind of series which drew me to anime in the first place.

Also list writer, you deserve some kind of award for introducing me to Shinsekai Yori.

  22. I’m probably the only person who feels this way, but I think Ergo Proxy deserves a place on the list. It was actually my first anime and I still love it today. it’s a beautiful dark intriguing story that everyone should see

      • I think you should atleast take a look at these anime, because popular doesn’t amount to good. Yes they are good anime what you’ve listed, but so are these. When popular ones stand out with bigger budgets and media coverage, the lesser known one’s gets left out.

  23. There are so many quality animes left out of this list. Where are Death Note, Code Geass, Monster, Tokyo Ghoul and Darker Than Black? This list is fundamentally flawed. Most of the top class animes are seinen and there are so many shounen/shoujo romcoms included that the best shows just got left out. This list ought to be revised.

    • This is actually just a list of one person’s favorite shows.

It’s pretty damn good at being that though.

  24. My top 10 anime list is : (no hate comments please. this is just my opinion.)
    1. Naruto/Naruto Shippuden
    2. Death Note
    3. Black Butler
    4. Code Geass
    5. Nabari
    6. Blue Exorcist
    7. DRAMAtical Murder
    8. Junjo Romantica
    9. Fruits Basket
    10. Ouran High School Host Club

  25. You have missed a lot to put into the list, but I think you should have mentioned animes in particular genres, or any mentions in an overall list will not be suitable. I’m an Action lover guy, so I really enjoyed “Attack on Titan” and “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood”. Other than that, “Death Note” is definitely one to put into this list. It’s quite an epic and intellectual anime series.

  26. My favourites are attack on titan,sword art online,dbz,naruto shipudden,Bleach,Hunter x hunter,Fairy tale,etc
    I love all anime ??

  27. Honestly evangelion is the most DEPRESSING garbage out there. It is the definition of overhyped. The first half was a so-so mecha anime, the second half was trying to be deep but failed MISERABLY. I respect your opinion, but it just was not for me

  28. Nice list, Bobduh. Similar to others, I’ve seen about half of this, and will have to check out the rest. I’m impressed you put Shin Sekai Yori and Steins;Gate on here. I’ve been talking them up recently, and hardly anyone in my circles had heard of them.

I’ve also enjoyed some of the more “popular” series that have come out in the past couple of years, including Attack on Titan and SAO, but I’m surprised that shows like Anohana and Ano Natsu de Matteru aren’t on here. Also, That Lie You Told in April, and One Week Friends were excellent. Those are my favorite slice of life with something on the side shows.

Along with people talking about Baccano! I’m also a fan of Durarara, which I believe does off beat adventure and character development really well. My addition to your older stuff would be Trigun, Outlaw Star and el-Hazard. They stand alongside Bebop in my mind as some of the best. Thanks for the list.

  29. I got a little top 3 that I don’t see many talk about or even consider an option to watch, (please note I know a lot may have saw these I am just trying to guide those who haven’t to a good show),
    Code Geass:
    Darker than black
    Knights of Sidonia

  30. future diary, naruto, death note, claymore, sword art online, great teacher onizuka, rurouni kenshin, galaxy express 999, steins gate, kino’s journey, neon genesis evangelion…

these are most of my favorites. I’ve been downloading everything I can find and everything else bores the hell out of me. if anyone has some good suggestions please please please tell me

    • Very diverse group, between SAO and Kino’s Journey!

So I guess I’ll give my general recs, things that both I and the general public think highly of: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Ping Pong the Animation, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Cowboy Bebop, Baccano!, and Samurai Champloo.

      • thankyou so much. I am gonna check out the first one on the list you sent first. oh and for some reason I got the feeling you might like a snes game called “der langrisser” I don’t kno y I thought that tho

  31. First of all I want to thank you for making this theme and for your passion concerning the subject of the matter. This is a realy hard work! I don’t want to indulge your choises, in fact its just a matter of taste , but after noticing Gurren Laggan I couldn’t stay aside. I saw it fairly recently, and well it left not the best aftertaste.. After 18 or 19th episode this show losing all its charm and sense of humor and becomes predictable super-pathetic showing off of ” cool good guys” in attempt of defeating another bunch of evil doers. The ending is so dumb and unreasonable, that I even don’t know what to say…. Dispite of that you might consider “Berserk”. This show is old but it has all to be great anim. It has interesting characters , plot, interesting ending, and the least but not the last, you believe in these characters, and heroes of the story

  32. I’m slightly surprised you don’t have White Album 2 here, as you seemed to like it a lot (especially with the comment ‘so good it’s painful to watch’).
That’s my only remark though, thanks for the list!

  33. Thank you so much for making this list! It helped me discover anime that I didn’t even know about, as everyone always talks about the mainstream ones. I just finished Katanagatari, your number four, and I thought it was absolutely brilliant! I haven’t seen much anime yet, but I think FMA: Brotherhood deserves a spot here, at least in my opinion. I remember reading somewhere in the comments that you don’t really like it, though. Also, in my unpopular view, Cowboy Bebop is extremely overrated… Anyways, thanks again!

  34. Favorite anime of all time is Paranoia Agent, shame it isn’t as well know as it should be. I’d say my top anime list is
    1. Paranoia Agent-the best critique and analysis of Japanese culture and modern day society I’ve seen in a while.
    2. Cowboy Bebop(Dub)-All great episodes(other than the Feng Shui one imo) and it has my favorite soundtrack of all time.
    3. Steins Gate-Just really strong writing, well executed and smart. The character progression is amazing.
    4. FMA Brotherhood-Just well done overall in writing, characters, design, imagination etc.
    5. Higurashi- Probably the most fucked up series to ever come out in the horror sense and not the asshole friend prank(fuck everyone who made boku no pico). It knows its horror and it is just great at atmosphere and knowing when to reveal information. It’s also hard as hell to find.
    6. HxH- In all honesty, my favorite shonen series is one piece, but that’s for the manga with the anime just finding new ways to streeeetch out the plot. HxH is the only long running series that effectively puts down the plot of its source without painfully stretching out all of the elements, and it knew when to stop and end on a high note.
    7. Berserk-I just love the stories and the art of it. It’s great.
8.BoBoBoBo-Bo-BoBo(Dub)- It’s silly and stupid, but I appreciate the dub more and more when I rewatch it. It’s rare that a dub makes fun of the fact it’s a dub, or that they never translate Japanese writing on these shows. Also the narrator is one of my favorite characters, but only in the dub. I definitely recommend this over the sub one.
    9. DBZ-Sure it’s ridiculous and overdone, but it’s also entertaining, was a large influence on many that came after and has great sci-fi ideas. Their form of time travel was one of the best I’ve seen.
    10. Kill la Kill-Just pure fun and entertainment. It has some of the most imaginative battles I’ve seen in a while and I love the energy behind it. Sure it might seem degrading to have to fight in skimpy outfits, but it fully embraces that and turns it into a love yourself message. It’s also really funny.
    11. Garzey’s wing- Nothing about this works, but I can’t stop watching it. No really, this is The Room of anime. I don’t understand how any of this could fail so horrifically, but it is one of the funniest things you’ll ever see. Watch the dub because the poor dubbing just adds to the craziness and bad dialogue.

  35. While personally I don’t agree with your list only, because those are not really my type of shows, I’m really happy you’ve seen and enjoyed Shinsekai Yori. I like more action, and whatever makes my heart beat fast, but Shinsekai Yori, though it starts slow, kept me watching because I couldn’t look past that dark creepy aura behind the kids having fun. I don’t know, to me Shinsekai Yori was just an masterpiece in my mind, I loved all the psychological things happening without it being too boring, and how it made you keep watching somehow. Oh, and then when shit started going down, god I love that anime…. Anyways I just wanted to make a super long comment about how I’m happy to find another person who has seen Shinsekai Yori, and could appreciate its psychological aspects~
