Mob Psycho finally had a weaker episode this time, after a fairly consistent streak of excellence. The way this episode was weaker makes me think the show is trying to hit some later arc in the manga, but either way, it resulted in a somewhat unsatisfying middle phase of Ritsu’s current arc. ONE isn’t the most insightful of social scientists, and speeding up his stories only emphasizes that – Ritsu and Shinji were both shortchanged by this episode’s pacing, and the conclusion suffered for it. Hopefully we’ll be back on track next week!

I read the manga and it didn’t feel like this episode particularly skipped or rushed through anything, it seemed pretty consistent with the pace it’s normally been doing through the chapters. It’s been a while since I read these chapters but I think the manga itself went through these events pretty quickly, I never really had any issue with it but I can see why it might seem a bit jarring/rushed to some people
Same.
As a manga reader, I liked the episode too. The pacing is different from the other previous chapters but it’s not bad too. Transition chapters are complicated and it’s common the lack of smoothness but, given the crazy amount of information, the structure felt solid. The portrait of Shinji was short but accomplished, the Ritsu’s one is not complete yet so we’ll see.
