Hello everyone, and welcome back to Wrong Every Time. It’s been a couple solid months since we last visited the shores of Alola, and I’m currently still working off an awful cold, so I’d say we’ve more than earned a return to Sun & Moon. Though at this point, I doubt we’ll be seeing too many sun-dappled beaches or cloudless skies, given the crew just rode Solgaleo through a goddamn wormhole. The land of the Ultrabeasts awaits, and I’m expecting some impressive feats of pokebattle animation as our team seeks to rescue Lusamine. Just fighting one Ultrabeast seemed too much for our shamelessly stat-modded Pikachu – even with a legendary pokemon at their side, can our heroes truly battle them on their own turf? With the stakes higher than ever before, let’s return to the fantastical world of Sun & Moon!

Pokemon Sun and Moon – Episode 52
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Wrong Every Time. Today I am happy to announce that we’re charging back into Sun and Moon, as we near the climax of this production’s first major arc. We’re not due for another Misaaki Iwane episode for a while yet, but I’m still anticipating a glorious display of animated action as our team enter The Twilight Zone. I mean, does the zone on the other side of these wormholes have an actual name, or can we just call it The Twilight Zone? Look, it’s already taking all my strength not to make any terrible jokes about the term “Ultra Hole,” so you can at least give me this one.
Ambiguous multidimensional nomenclature aside, the team has gathered and the conditions have been met. Let’s continue our journey through Sun and Moon’s most exciting act so far!
Pokemon Sun and Moon – Episode 51
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Wrong Every Time. It’s presumably well into the springtime whenever you’re reading this, but as of the moment I’m typing, it is currently my friggin’ birthday, and that means we’re watching some Sun and Moon. My rigorous professionalism prevents me from outright taking the day off, but I’ll be damned if I’m spending it anywhere but the islands of Alola!
We’re currently in the midst of a sumptuously animated climactic arc, with Lusamine having just sacrificed herself to the nether realms in order to save her daughter. I’ve frequently wondered how the show was going to adapt Lillie’s game arc, and it appears this is the answer: by shuffling all of Lusamine’s outright villainousness over to Elton, the anime has turned her story into one of familial neglect and redemption, rather than some genuine supervillain shit. Regardless, the short of it is that the Ultra Beasts are attacking, and it’s up to our group of scrappy youngsters to save the day. Let’s return to the embattled shores of Alola!
Pokemon Sun and Moon – Episode 50
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Wrong Every Time. Today I am more than eager to return to Pokemon Sun and Moon, having at last resolved some issues on the back end to actually allow me to continue (why oh why does Netflix only have dubbed episodes). I generally treat myself to a Sun and Moon every couple weeks, but it’s been over a month now since I last visited Alola, and the cracks are beginning to show. With the chill of a New England January keeping me mostly confined to my house, I’m hoping a fresh helping of Sun and Moon will at least keep my heart warm through the weeks to come.
Of course, it doesn’t seem like we’re in for any fun-in-the-sun vignettes at the moment. The Aether Foundation is currently experiencing a dramatic power struggle, and with Elton John having revealed his nefarious machinations, I’m guessing we’ve got a few more episodes of frantic conflict ahead of us. With Lillie having finally faced her trauma, let’s see how our heroes face off with the Rocket Man!
Pokemon Sun and Moon – Episode 49
C’mon, we can’t stop right there, can we? Lillie’s in jeopardy! After fighting hard to overcome her pokemon phobia, an unexpected confrontation with Silvady has left her as traumatized as ever, and unable even to hug the bundle of light and joy that is Snowball. Alola is supposed to be a place of peace and comfort, and I cannot accept abandoning our heroes in their hour of greatest need. Indeed, it seems the only honorable choice is to keep watching Sun and Moon until all of its characters are happy again.
Alright, you caught me, I’m just fishing for more excuses to watch Sun and Moon. The show is delightful, spending time with its cast is fun even in moments of crisis, and I’m sure Lillie will overcome this trial with her usual can-do spirit. Let’s settle in for another episode of Sun and Moon!
Pokemon Sun and Moon – Episode 48
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Wrong Every Time. Today it is too damn cold outside, as it will remain in my state for roughly eight months, before suddenly becoming habitable again sometime in late May. Accordingly, I have already developed my seasonal sniffle-cough, which will be accompanying me for the entirety of this megawinter, regardless of my personal choices. Going out for a jog is now a laborious process; heck, even stepping outside for some fresh air no longer provides that vitalizing rush of warmth and sunlight. Winter is a plague visited upon me for reasons unknown, a gentle reminder that the universe is frequently cruel for no reason.
As you may have gathered, I am not thrilled about winter’s onset, and could very much use a reprieve from its encroaching grasp. As a result, I am extremely pleased to announce that today we’re returning to Sun and Moon, and staging a tactical retreat into the sun-drenched isles of Alola. There are few things that can rally my spirits like a dash of Pokemon, and I hope many of you also enjoy these cheerful adventures. For all I tend to focus on art’s ability to inspire or provoke, providing simple comfort and cheer is also one of art’s great callings, and Sun and Moon absolutely excels at it. Let’s venture on back to the islands of Alola!
Pokemon Sun and Moon – Episode 47
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Wrong Every Time. Today I am delighted to announce that we’re returning to Sun and Moon, after more than a month away. It’s not Sun and Moon’s fault we didn’t visit sooner; the show is outrageously charming, and I’m always happy to check out another episode. But I’ve been making an effort to balance my output of the various reader-funded projects lately, and that’s put Sun and Moon on the backburner as I build up the stock of Oregairus and Toradoras and whatnot.
Well, I’ve been building that stock for a month straight, and I think I’ve earned a day in the sun. When last we left off, some major narrative gears seemed to be creaking into motion, with the awakening of the Ultra Beasts and the machinations of Lusamine’s lab associate both promising future trials. I’m eager to see all that play out, but also would be perfectly happy with a lazy beach episode, and maybe some Team Rocket shenanigans. There are really no wrong answers with Sun and Moon, so let’s not waste any more time, and get back to Alola!
Pokemon Sun and Moon – Episode 46
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Wrong Every Time. Today we’re going to be taking it easy for a little while, by returning to the proudly low-stakes drama of Pokemon Sun and Moon. In spite of Lusamine’s best efforts to introduce some genuine narrative momentum to this production, last episode mostly just involved Starcloud teleporting the crew to a bevy of island hot spots (some more literal than others), along with the requisite dollop of Team Rocket trying hard and failing spectacularly. Ash promised to raise this little eldritch beast, but it’s clear that not even Starcloud can control Starcloud’s powers, and thus the potential for disaster remains high.
That’s all fine by me! I’m down for adventure and also down for relaxation, so whichever way the wind blows, I’ll be sure to adjust my beach chair and continue enjoying the Alolan summer. Good company can make any activity a treat, and Sun and Moon’s crew is about the best company we could hope for. Let’s all lean back and enjoy another lazy afternoon beneath the Alolan sun!
Pokemon Sun and Moon – Episode 45
Hello everyone, and welcome on back to Wrong Every Time. I’ll be perfectly frank: I am tired right now, and in need of something comforting to get me back in positive spirits. Last week I came down with some awful illness that had me basically horizontal for three days straight, followed by another day or two of begrudging, sniffly recovery. After a year of careful quarantine best practices, it felt like the world cursed me with a plague the moment I dared to step into sunlight. And of course, it’s not like my responsibilities took a time-out to let me get back in gear; thus most of that recovery time was also spent writing articles, and making up for the time I decadently afforded myself for being too sick to move. Today is the first day I’ve felt more-or-less healthy in a week, and in the spirit of maintaining that health, I’m treating myself (and you all, hopefully???) to an episode of Sun and Moon.
When we last left off, Sun and Moon appeared to have finally commenced its actual plot. Starcloud, Lusamine, and Alola’s legendary pokemon were key to the Sun and Moon game’s narrative from the start, but given we’ve spent forty glorious episodes just faffing about, I was beginning to wonder if Sun and Moon would even have a plot, at least beyond the island pilgrimage. I frankly wouldn’t have minded that, but I’m also happy to see Lusamine pop in to fawn over her daughter in the most embarrassing way possible, and also see our heroes trade blows with some genuinely threatening opponents. Sun and Moon’s ultra beasts represent Pokemon at its wildest and weirdest, so I’m guessing the next few episodes have some dramatic turns in store for us. Let’s get to it!
Pokemon Sun and Moon – Episode 44
Hello everyone, and welcome the heck back to Wrong Every Time. Today I am eager to relax with some Sun and Moon, and hope you all don’t mind if we just chill out in Alola for a while. After last episode’s absurd animation spectacle, which essentially compressed twenty years of animated passion into twenty glorious minutes, I’m not expecting a similar feat this time – and I’m actually quite okay with that. Animation highlights are fun and all, but Sun and Moon’s perennial attraction is the simple, peaceful joy of hanging out with this crew, and going on rambling adventures across their beautiful home. Sun and Moon is a place of rest and recovery, where you’re always welcome to just chill out for a while, and I hope you all appreciate that peace just as much as I do. Whether we’re finding a new pokemon or just lounging on the beach, let’s ease right into another day under the Alolan sun!
